Dear Little Cactus,
I have a problem managing my daily grades, for example I will get a worksheet do all the work but forget to turn it in and lose it before I realize this. This self stupidity is my downfall and I need advise on how to organize myself and how to better be able to manage the small daily grades that keep piling up and becoming a real problem for me, myself, and I.
Sincerely,
A concerned student
I am very familiar with this problem, for I have battled this problem in years passed. I found myself searching my binder frantically for paper that was misplaced. My advice is to put a folder on your desk and, once you finish your worksheet, put the paper in your folder and do not touch it. I need to fidget and move things around a lot but it has been detrimental to my grades. The best option is to keep it in the same place and not move it around.
Another option is to just turn it in as soon as you're finished. This way, you won’t have to think about it anymore and the worry goes away. If you have any homework, I think you should put your papers away immediately. This means putting them in the right place. Don’t just shove them into your bag, put them in a folder or clip it into your binder! I always just shoved my homework into the front flap of my notebooks and that never worked out well.
Overall, just always know where the paper is. I know it’s easier said than done, but one way you can keep track of it is to keep your workspace clean. I make sure my desk is clean and has just enough for me to work on the assignment. Having binders and pencils all over your desk can get crowded very quickly. Before you know it, your worksheet has disappeared! I think having a neat and minimalist desk can make it easier to be organized. Repeatedly keeping your workspace and binders/folders neat becomes a habit with practice so I recommend making the conscious decision to keep all of your things organized in every class. Before long, you can be turning in all of your assignments on time.
